Eustis Engineering is a geotechnical engineering company based in New Orleans that has been in business for nearly 70 years. After their founding in Vicksburg, MS soon after the end of WWII, the firm moved South to New Orleans, growing their business gradually but steadily to become a regional leader for geotechnical engineering.
For the firm's 70th anniversary, Eustis Engineering turned to Shoe for a re-brand. For a firm with such a long and impressive history, it was paramount for this design refresh to help bridge the gap between the firm's past, present, and future.
We started fresh with a color palette of grey and orange to give a clean and modern aesthetic. In order to remain faithful to the company's design history, we kept the original Eustis logo, which is modeled after an engineering tool, while slightly tweaking it to add the curved divot in the center – a design motif that was then repeated on business cards, promotional items and more. For their 70th anniversary, we redesigned their brand, while still embracing the history of the company. We chose to keep the idea of their existing logo, which recalls the process by which engineers test and dig into the layers of the earth, but modified it by simplifying it and updating the font to a more modern one.
